Expert Assessment and Treatment of Pneumonia and Chest Infections

Cough, fever, breathlessness, and chest pain can all be signs of a chest infection — and in some cases, pneumonia. In my private respiratory practice, I offer rapid, expert assessment and treatment if you are experiencing symptoms of respiratory infection, with a focus on early diagnosis, evidence-based care, and personalised follow-up.

Prompt, Accurate Diagnosis

Whilst some chest infections can be managed safely at home, some require prompt medical attention. I use a combination of clinical assessment, targeted investigations (such as chest X-rays, blood tests, sputum cultures), and, when needed, advanced imaging (e.g. CT scan) to provide a clear and accurate diagnosis.

Conditions I Commonly Treat

  • Community-acquired pneumonia.
  • Recurrent chest infections.
  • Post-viral or post-COVID infections.
  • Tuberculosis (TB).
  • Bronchitis and bronchiolitis.
  • Chest infections in patients with asthma, COPD, or other underlying lung conditions.

Personalised Treatment Plans

You will receive a tailored management plan, which may include:

  • Immediate treatment with appropriate antibiotics.
  • Oxygen monitoring and inhaled therapy where needed.
  • Follow-up imaging to confirm resolution, especially after pneumonia. This is usually a chest X-ray (CXR) at 6 weeks.
  • Preventative strategies to reduce future infections, including vaccinations or airway clearance support from specialist respiratory physiotherapists.
  • Advice on recovery, return to work or exercise, and when further assessment is needed.

Ongoing Care and Prevention

For patients with frequent chest infections, I investigate for underlying causes such as asthma, bronchiectasis, immune conditions, or undiagnosed lung disease. This may include more detailed assessment with CT scanning and lung function testing. I also provide proactive care to help reduce recurrence and improve long-term respiratory health.
